Effective Tuesday, March 1, all remaining COVID-19 school requirements will be lifted, including the removal of cohorting for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. While students were no longer required to wear masks as of February 14, effective March 1, wearing a mask inside Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) buildings, or on school buses, will no longer be required by anyone.
PWPSD supports all students, staff, parents/guardians or visitors who choose to continue wearing a medical mask. PWPSD will also continue to make hand sanitizer available, support leaving any physical barriers that are currently in place, continue with our enhanced hard surface cleaning and continue to encourage hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette.
Superintendent Bob Stewart says, “In addition to the controls we will continue to have in place, it is very important that parents continue to monitor their children and not send them to school if they have COVID-19 symptoms that cannot be attributed to pre-existing conditions such as seasonal allergies.” Many schools continue to have a supply of COVID-19 rapid test kits available, and families are encouraged to call their school if they would like to access a kit while supplies last.
