Board votes to keep junior high programming status quo
After months of engagement and an in-depth review of the final report, the PWPSD Board has voted to not make any changes to the junior high programming in the communities of Beaverlodge and Hythe.
With this decision, Beaverlodge students in Grades 7-9 will continue to attend Hythe Regional School for junior high before returning to Beaverlodge for high school.
You can find the final report, supporting documents, and more information about the Guiding Our Future engagement project on our website.
Peace Wapiti Outreach Team
The Peace Wapiti Outreach Team works with My Luvpak to provide backpacks and supplies to families in need.
The Peace Wapiti Outreach Team, which launched in January 2023, is part of the Division's Wellness Team, and focuses on supporting students and their families who are least likely to access services, but who are in the most need.
The Team's primary purpose is to work with PWPSD schools to identify students who have been struggling with attendance and make contact with them and their families in an attempt to identify needs, barriers and/or struggles. Team members then work to provide access to a wide range of services, community supports, and referrals.
In addition to building resilience in PWPSD students and families, the Outreach Team offers:
Holistic case management
Direct support to students and families
Advocacy
Opportunities for connection and engagement
Referrals to community support services and systems
Support for transitions
Since January, the team has been connected to over 168 families, and continues to offer supports throughout the division.
