Sexsmith Secondary School and Eaglesham School will begin the upcoming 2024-2025 school year with new principals. Mrs. Ali Lario, current Assistant Principal of Sexsmith Secondary School, will move into the principal role, and Mr. Mark Pelley, who is new to Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD), will become the newest principal of Eaglesham School.
Mrs. Lario, who joined PWPSD in the fall of 2002, has a combined degree in Education and Physical Education with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Jones International University in Colorado. Mrs. Lario taught at Spirit River Regional Academy for 12 years before moving to Sexsmith Secondary School where she’s been Assistant Principal for the last 10 years.
Mrs. Lario says she is excited to continue working with the amazing staff, students, and community. “Sexsmith Secondary is a fantastic place to be and work. I am really looking forward to continuing to work with this school community and provide the best possible school experience for our students.”
Mr. Mark Pelley joins the Division from Fort Vermillion, where he has been in an administrative role for the past six years. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Education, Theology, and Business Information Systems, and a Master of Education in School Leadership. Mr. Pelley has been teaching since 2006, and says he is looking forward to joining the Eaglesham School community. “I am very excited to join and serve the rural community of Eaglesham, and I look forward to working with new staff and a dedicated parental community that is looking to strengthen and support its local school.” He says he is pleased to join PWPSD and is excited for the opportunity to work with a school division that is well known for its excellent work environment, commitment to students, and support of all its communities.
