Dear PWPSD Families, Caregivers, and Students,
As we come to the close of another school year, I want to take a moment to express gratitude for your ongoing partnership, trust, and support.
Like most years, this one brought its unique share of challenges and triumphs. At times, events outside of our control strained and stressed relationships and I want to thank the numerous parents who reached out to speak with me or members of our team. Your support and communication have been truly appreciated.
Despite some of the challenges, it has been an incredibly successful year for our students. The PWPSD Good News shares many wonderful stories of what our students and staff got up to this year, but a couple highlights include:
- Helen E. Taylor’s music teacher, Mrs. Rhonda Johnson, won the Prime Minister’s Teaching Excellence Award
- Peace Wapiti Academy’s Senior Boys Volleyball team made history with their first ever Provincial title
- More than 20 PWPSD students competed in the Arctic Winter Games
- PWPSD celebrated 466 graduates
- PWPSD students raised more than $58,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation
- PWPSD, in collaboration with Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools, Grande Prairie Public School Division, and Northwestern Polytechnic, announced new collegiate programming for students
None of these successes would be possible without the vital relationships and spirit of collaboration between our schools and the families we serve. Your engagement truly makes a meaningful difference in the experiences of our children and the success of our schools.
As the summer break begins, I hope your family has the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved rest, time together, and exciting summer activities.
Whether you are continuing your educational journey with us or preparing for new chapters ahead, I truly wish each of you all the best.
Thank you for being an essential part of our educational team. Have a wonderful, safe, and happy summer. I look forward to welcoming you back in September!
Warm regards,
Shawn O’Shea
Superintendent
