Language describing case numbers of COVID-19 in schools is being updated based on feedback from education partners – including parents, schools and boards.

K to 12 students resume in-person learning on January 11.

At 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021, Premier Kenney announced live on the Your Alberta YouTube channel that students will return to in-class instruction on schedule on Monday, January 11, 2021.

All students enrolled in in-school learning will return to classes on Monday, January 11.

Students can only transition to remote learning at designated dates. Three weeks before the start of each term or semester, families should contact their school to request remote learning. Read this story for upcoming deadlines.

With a state of public health emergency declared by the Government of Alberta on November 24, 2020, new mandatory measures will be in place for education province-wide, effective Monday, November 30, 2020.

​The Government of Alberta has updated the list of symptoms for Albertans under 18, and high school students who are over 18 (see pages 1-2). All other Albertans who are 18 and over, including school staff, will continue to use the original Alberta Health daily checklist.
